Common questions

Where did my deleted photos go?

Into your Recently Deleted album, in Apple's Photos app. iOS keeps them there for 30 days, and you can restore any of them from Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted. Proof Sheet never deletes anything permanently, and never deletes anything without showing you Apple's confirmation dialog first.

Storage didn't go down after I deleted photos.

That's expected. Space isn't reclaimed until the photos leave Recently Deleted — either when the 30 days run out, or when you empty that album yourself in the Photos app.

I deleted something by mistake.

If you're still in the sweep, tap Undo. If you've already committed, open Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted and restore it from there. You have 30 days.

How does the free trial work?

The app is free to download and free to use in full for 14 days — the whole app, no limits, no ads, no daily caps. After that you can still browse your library, and a one-time $5 purchase restores swiping and deleting permanently. There is no subscription, and we never ask you for money again.

I paid before, on another device / I reinstalled the app.

Tap Restore Purchases, on the purchase screen or in Settings. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it comes back at no charge as long as you're signed in with the same account you bought it with.

Can my family use my purchase?

No. Proof Sheet isn't set up for Family Sharing — each Apple Account needs its own unlock.

Why does Proof Sheet want access to all my photos?

Because it exists to show you your photos and delete the ones you don't want, it needs to see the whole library to do that. Limited access would only ever show it a handful of photos you'd already picked, which defeats the point. Everything it does with that access happens on your device.

Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?

No. There's no server, no account, and no analytics. Finding duplicates, spotting blurry shots, and recognizing screenshots all happen on your phone. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.

A photo shows "Not available offline".

The full-size original is in iCloud rather than on your device. Connect to Wi-Fi or cellular and it'll download. You can still keep or delete it either way.

The first scan is slow.

The first time through a large library, Proof Sheet has to look at every photo to find duplicates and screenshots. Results are cached, so it's much faster after that. Progress is shown while it works.

Something detected as a screenshot isn't one.

Screen recordings have no official marker in iOS, so Proof Sheet identifies them by matching exact device screen dimensions. A video recorded at the same resolution can occasionally land in that group — which is why nothing is deleted until you've reviewed it.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes.

Which iOS versions are supported?

iOS 17.0 and later, on iPhone and iPad.
