In Photos, an album is only a pointer, and there is no way to mark a photo as dealt with, so every time you open the app you face the same undifferentiated pile. Proof Sheet remembers every photo you have already ruled on, so a camera roll of twenty thousand stops being an endless wall and becomes a job with an end.
Proof Sheet keeps score. Every photo you judge is remembered, every month shows how far you got, and a finished month says so and stays that way.
You get one photo at a time, full screen. Swipe one way to keep it, the other to let it go, or use the buttons. Not sure? Park it with Decide Later, and it waits somewhere you will actually find it again.
Every month starts with two optional pre-passes. Near-identical shots and camera bursts are grouped together, so you keep the best one and drop the rest in a couple of taps. The blurry and dark ones are found for you as well.
Proof Sheet scans your whole library for screenshots and screen recordings: the receipts, the memes, the lock screens, the thing you meant to look up later. You clear them in one pass.
Nothing is deleted while you work. At the end, you review everything you marked, and a single system dialog moves it all to Recently Deleted, where it stays recoverable for 30 days.
